She is currently ESG Manager at ALTER – Conteúdo Relevante, working also in partnership with the Global Compact Brazil and other institutions. Graduated in Medicine from Escola Paulista de Medicina (UNIFESP), with an MBA in Strategic Business Management from FIAP, and specialization in Disruptive and Sustainable Strategies from Harvard Business School. He worked with acceleration of Health Startups and in innovation projects for the pharmaceutical industry, always seeking to improve the reality of Health in Brazil and worldwide. Currently serves as CEO of Entogenex Europe in Portalegre-Portugal dedicated to biotechnology and public health with a global reach. Is also member of the board of Finao Biotech and Portus Pharma.
Juliana Saliba holds a degree in Industrial Pharmacy from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), a Master’s and PhD in Pharmaceutical Science and a Postdoctoral degree in Materials Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), as well as a Postdoctoral degree in Life Sciences from INSERM Paris (France).She has an academic background as a professor of pharmaceutical technology, cosmetics and business modeling. Since 2013 she has been working with innovation, intellectual property strategy and entrepreneurship. In 2018, Juliana joined BiotechTown where she works in prospecting new technologies and startups, evaluating potential opportunities and providing knowledge on how to transform science into benefits for society. She has over 10 scientific publications, mentored over 300 early-stage startups and contributed to developing the entrepreneurial mindset of over 2000 students.

As by a definition waste recovery means any operation the principal result of which is waste serving a useful purpose by replacing other materials which would otherwise have been used to fulfil a particular function, different types of recovery operations exist. Maria de Lurdes Lopes is currently a Full Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), Member of the Management Board of the R&D Unit CONSTRUCT, Chairman of the Board of the Laboratory for Testing Construction Materials (LEMC) and Member of the Sustainability Committee of FEUP. She has a Degree in Civil Engineering, FEUP (1977), MSc in Soil Mechanics, FCT-UNL (1996), PhD in Civil Engineering, University of Porto (1992) and Aggregation in Civil Engineering, University of Porto (2001). Her main research interests/competences are Circular Economy and sustainability, circular construction, waste as raw-material, Construction materials, Environmental Geotechnics. Geosynthetics. Her main activities include the following: Principal Research of 24 research projects and team member of 10 research projects in the area of geosynthetics, environmental geotechnics, circular economy and sustainability, Supervisor of 100 scientific research papers (Post-Doc, PhD, MSc), author/co-author of more than 350 scientific papers in books, book chapters, journals and conferences. Prof. Lurde Lopes is also a Member of the International Scientific Advisory Board for the Priority Research Area of “Climate and environmental protection, modern energy” of the Silesian University of Technology, Poland, Scientific co-coordinator of the Thematic Agenda for Research and Innovation in Circular Economy of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), board member of Smart Waste Portugal Association (ASWP), since 2015, representative of UP in the Collaborative Laboratory for Circular Economy (CECOLAB), and executive member of the Board of Directors of CECOLAB.

THE CHALLENGES OF DIGITAL AND INTELLIGENT MANUFACTURING TO SUPPORT SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION
The emission reduction goals set for 2030 are ambitious. The planet urges for decarbonization in order to prevent an unprecedented catastrophe by limiting the rise in global temperature and controlling climatic changes. Even if there is now no obligation to uphold the international agreements for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the industries must steer to this direction. This panel seeks to discuss the role of intelligent manufacturing in sustainable production, which aids in reducing climatic changes and is also accessible to small and medium-sized businesses.
Innovation Consultant and Product Lider at IEBT Innovation
With an Executive MBA from Fundação Dom Cabral and a BA in International Relations from PUC Minas, he has 20 years of experience in science, technology and innovation projects and programs. She has extensive experience in innovation management and open innovation strategies and national and international cooperation involving innovation projects, research and development (R&D). She was manager of the Innovation Program of Fiat Powertrain for Latin America, creating and implementing the open innovation strategy for high efficiency engines. She was Operations Director of SOFTEX Nacional, implementing the area of innovation and internationalization. She joined the Fiemg System in 2017 when she assumed the Management of Technological Entrepreneurship and manager of the Fab Lab Open Lab SENAI MG, developing actions and projects that promote access and democratization of technology and innovation. In 2018 she took over the management of Fiemg Lab – Fiemg System Hub for accelerating startups and promoting open innovation for industry, accelerating and connecting dozens of startups to industries throughout Brazil and supporting the industry to perform open innovation with startups. At Fundep she was an innovation advisor developing Innovation Programs involving companies – universities and government. Currently, Mariana is a consultant in innovation strategy and organizational development product leader of the company IEBT Innovation.
Lead UX Designer and Head of Digital Product Design at Firjan SENAI’s Innovation Institute for Virtual Production Systems (ISI-SVP) with over 10 years of experience, he graduated in Game Design from PUC Minas and holds an MBA in UX Strategy Management and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Emotional Design. Diego has extensive experience as Product Designer and UX Manager on a wide variety of innovation projects, including Simulators, Digital Twins, SaaS and both Augmented and Virtual Reality Applications. He is currently leading the Design Team at ISI SVP, that develops applied research projects for nationwide industries.
Gil Gonçalves is an Assistant Professor at FEUP and a researcher at SYSTEC, with more than 20 years of experience in systems development, specialising in systems engineering, control architectures and design of software for industrial applications. Gil coordinates the Digital and Intelligent Industry Research Lab, and he is not only an experienced academic and researcher but also a recognised innovation and entrepreneurship expert. Principal researcher (PI) in several European and Portuguese R&D projects, Gil is also a member of the Portuguese National Network of Mentors for Young entrepreneurs and co-founder of 4 technology-based start-ups.
Gil is the coordinator of the INVENTHEI project, an activity funded by the HEI Initiative that involves 6 European Universities. The goal of INVENTHEI is to help partners boost their entrepreneurial capabilities at all levels and unlock their innovation potential.

This panel session focuses on critical raw materials which are crucial for the (future) economic development. The discussion will centre around the reliable and uninterrupted access to certain raw materials that has become a growing concern at the global level.
He has been Director of Investment Attraction at Invest Minas since 2019, responsible for promoting investments in Minas Gerais in the sectors of renewable energy, transport (aerospace, railways, automotive and auto parts, electric vehicles, among others), electro-electronics, medical-hospital equipment and mining, steel, metallurgy and metalmechanics.
Member of the Board of Directors at IAS – Indústria de Aviação e Serviços since June 2021. Strategic defense company, focused on solutions and maintenance of aeronautical engines for the armed forces, for commercial aviation and private aircraft.
He is part of the Energy, Oil and Gas Industry Chamber and the Automotive Industry Chamber, as well as being a member of the Infrastructure Council, all from FIEMG.

Rogério Marques Ribas
Mr. Rogerio M. Ribas earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering and his Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidade Federal de Uberlandia. He then earned an MBA in Business Administration and Management from University of Pittsburgh, Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. Mr. Rogério Ribas has extensively experience in chemical processes, project management, market and product development having worked for global companies as MANAH, BUNGE, OCP and SHELL developing applied technology as well as improving industrial processes. He joined CBMM in 2011 to develop new applications for niobium in the field of chemical, electronics, smart and functional materials. Since 2019 he holds the position of Executive Manager for Battery Products at CBMM aiming to develop a new business arm for CBMM in the global lithium ion batteries.

Paulo Resende is professor of logistics, transportation, operations planning and supply chain at Fundação Dom Cabral. He is Coordinator of the Infrastructure, Supply Chain and Logistics Center at FDC and is the researcher responsible for the Infrastructure Platform in Transport Logistics, PILT FDC. He is also editor-in-chief of DOM Magazine. Paulo has a Ph.D. in Transportation Planning Planning and Logistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (USA) and a master’s Transportation Planning and Engineering from Memphis State University (USA). He is a member of the Supply Chain Council (USA) and author of books in the areas of logistics, transportation, value chain and supply chain management. He is a board member of the Brazilian Association of Logistics Operators, ABOL.
Avenor Teixeira de Carvalho Neto
Born in Araxá/MG, 59 years old, married, 4 children. Technical Accountant, graduated in Business Administration and Marketing, MBA in Business Management, specialization in Marketing, Finance, Logistics and Strategy in Value Chains.
Predominant professional experience in two areas: Commercial and Logistics. At Martins for 29 years, in 1993 he started as Purchasing Manager, moved to Sales Management, Sales Division Management. In 2003 he took on the Logistics Directory, then covering also Supply Chain, where he stayed until 2009, when he returned to the Sales Directory. In 2018 he returned again to Logistics and Supply Chain, assuming the Board of Operations of the company, responsible for 6 DCs, 40 Crossdocking Branches, 25 transit points, operating 360,000 deliveries / month. Currently leading the implementation of the Project Logistics 4.0, whose main objective is to enable and make available all the know how and the logistical footprint, present and under implementation, to serve customers 1P and 3P, totaling 6 DCs, 24 HUBs and 81 distribution points in Brazil.

Marcelo Farias is manager of the Multimodal Logistics Hub of BH Airport and works to strengthen the International Airport of Belo Horizonte as a center of international cargo distribution by sky, land and sea. With over 20 years of experience in the areas of Logistics, Foreign Trade and Supply Chain, he worked in national and multinational companies, leaders in the segments of air cargo transport, fuel distribution, infrastructure, international cargo management. He also stands out for his leadership in transforming, multidisciplinary and integration projects for process improvement, control and governance.
Martín is a researcher and currently an associate professor in the Computer Science Department at UFMG. He was director of the Research Development Foundation of UFMG (2018-2022), and does consulting work for several organizations. Current research interests include, complex systems, complex networks, industrial process logistics and optimization, and organizational culture. He holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Rosario (Argentina) and a Masters and PhD in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) with a period at the University of Florida (USA). During the period 2007-2010 he was a research academic at the University of Newcastle (Australia) and did post-doctoral studies at the Universitat de Barcelona and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Spain). He has published more than 40 articles in international journals, advised 6 PhD and 10 MSc students, and is currently a CNPq 1B productivity scholar.

Armando Araújo received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1998 from the University of Porto. Presently he is Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto where he teaches courses in the areas of analog electronics, power electronics, automotive electronics and signal acquisition and processing within the Integrated Master in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is involved with R&D in the fields of modeling, simulation, design and control of power electronic systems for electrical mobility and grid interface with renewable energy sources. His research activity is developed within the Research Center for Systems and Technologies (SYSTEC). He is a member of the Portuguese Engineering Association.
Engineer with a masters degree in Science and Technology, specialist in statistics applied to processes (Six Sigma Black Belt), innovation management and project management. She has been working in the innovation ecosystem for 20 years, which allowed her to structure a large network of connections and strategic partners ranging from government, funding agents, companies and ICTs. Raised about R$2 billion for innovative projects, more than 1000 startups mentored, more than 100 large companies served in the innovation theme. She acts as new business executive and government relations at Fundep, director of the Founder Institute MG, President of the Innovation Council and Executive VP of Acminas. She works in public and private projects that aim the economic development through innovation such as ROTA 2030 that aims to increase the competitiveness of the automotive chain, PNME – National Platform for Electric Mobility, VERDE- Innovation Hub in clean and renewable energy, among others.

Undoubtedly, one of the most critical and pressing challenges of our time is the energy transition – replacing the use of fossil fuels with renewable sources in energy production, thus being able to deliver on sustainable, efficient but also affordable low carbon energy. The expert members of this panel aim at giving their contribution to this ample and complex theme by involving the participants in the discussion.
Graduated in Civil Engineering from Escola de Engenharia Kennedy in 1987. He holds an MBA from Fundação Dom Cabral, 1997. In 2011 he attended the “Transformational Leadership Program” at MIT – Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Specialist in Renewable Energy from UFMG – Federal University of Minas Gerais and currently a master’s student in hydric engineering at UNIFEI – Federal University of Itajubá in MG.
He was General Manager of engineering and development of energy business of Vale S.A., acting globally for 15 years. He managed the recovery of the areas affected by the Samarco dam collapse in Minas Gerais and worked for 11 years in the development of infrastructure projects in Africa, Asia, South and Central America for Andrade Gutierrez.
Adriano da Silva Carvalho, Full Professor, PhD degree in ECE (Electrical and Computer Engineering) by University of Porto, Member of General Council of University of Porto and Head of the Department of ECE in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). Prof. Carvalho has 25 PhD supervisions, 160 publications in Scopus – 5% book chapters, 20% international journals articles, 75% international conferences articles, 1355 Citations, 79 highly influential citations, 3 international grant patents. Professional with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Master’s in Power Systems and MBA in Business Management, with over 15 years of experience in the electrical sector where he worked in energy commercialization, R&D&I projects, Innovation and Energy Efficiency/ANEEL, Intellectual Property, Lei do Bem, people management, tax and accounting management, manufacturing processes, financing, among others.
Experience in companies such as AMBEV, CPFL Energia, AES Brasil, Santo Antonio Energia and Cemig.
Rodrigo Mariano is CEO of Forest Venture Builder, a company dedicated to investing and developing startups in the areas: Forestry, Environment and Climate.
For over 15 years he has worked as an executive and entrepreneur in the forestry, sugarcane and financial sectors, with experience in the areas of Human Resources, Corporate Governance, Strategy and Innovation.
During his Master’s he researched Sustainable Competitive Advantages, concluding that Innovation and Strategic Alliances improve business competitiveness. A characteristic of her work is the engagement of stakeholders in relevant themes such as Employment and Income, themes that connect business and universities in the same purpose.

At the centre of this session, is the topic of achieving sustainable crops for future generations in a technology-based economy. With great experience in bringing academia and the market together, the moderator will lead the debate on some of the themes that form the basis of this sustainable innovation in agribusiness. For this, panelists with experience and innovative vision in the areas of farmer education, intelligent management of water resources, and venture capital investments for the development of new solutions for the sector have been invited.
